Drake

Aubrey Drake Graham (Toronto, October 24, 1986), better known as Drake, is a Canadian actor and rapper. He was originally known for his role as Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi: The Next Generation.

In June 2009 Graham recorded for the label, Lil 'Wayne, Young Money Entertainment [1]. In November 2009 announced Lil 'Wayne that Drakes first studio album, Thank Me Later, was finalized. The album was released on 15 June 2010 and debuted at the first place in the Billboard 200 [2].

Graham is currently working with include Lil 'Wayne, Young Jeezy, Kanye West, Eminem and Jay-Z. From his first EP, So Far Gone, Graham has been nominated for several awards including the Grammy Awards. Other awards include twice a Juno Award in 2010 for "Best New Artist" and rap song of the year.

Aubrey Drake Graham was born in Toronto, Canada on October 24, 1986. He is the son of Dennis Graham, an African American musician who worked with Jerry Lee Lewis and Sandi Graham, a Jewish-Canadian teacher. Two of his uncles, Larry Graham and Teenie Hodges are also musicians [3] [4] [5]. Aubrey was raised Jewish [6] [7] [8].

His parents divorced when he was 5 years old. He was then taken home by his mother in a house in Forest Hill [9] [10]. Graham went to school at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute, where he began acting, [11] but not graduated [12]. In the summers he always went to his father in Memphis, Tennessee [13].

In February 2006, Graham from his first mixtape, Room for Improvement. These he brought independently on its website and on MySpace. In 2007 he brought out his second mixtape, Comeback Season. For the song "Replacement Girl" with Trey Songz, that stood on this album, his first music video made. 

He was in this year also, the first unsigned Canadian rapper, his music video on BET hip hop platform [14]. The mixtape also contained a remix of the song "Man of the Year" along with Lil 'Wayne, originally sung by Brisco and Flo Rida. From 2008 showed Lil 'Wayne interest in Graham. Wayne sent his music to Jas Prince, owner of Rap-A-Lot, an American record label. 

He was immediately afterwards invited to Houston to fly to right to go on tour with him. During this time names Lil 'Wayne Graham and a few songs, including "Ransom," "I Want This Forever" and "Brand New". During this entire time, Graham was not signed with a label.

On 13 February 2009, Graham his third mixtape, So Far Gone, off. This album was a free download on his website. The album contained songs from Graham, working with Lil 'Wayne, Bun B, Omarion, Lloyd and Trey Songz. 

Within two hours after its release, the album was already downloaded 2000 times. The mixtape was seen as enormously successful and eventually reached the radio stations. In response, an external play released, featuring the five most popular songs, including Best I Ever Had and Successful. 

MTV dubbed the EP as "The Hottest Mixtape of 2009 (roughly translated: Best mixtape of 2009)" [15]. From this moment Graham rose to fame worldwide level. He then worked with world artists like DJ Khaled, Young Money, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Eminem, Young Jeezy, Mary J. Blige, Timbaland, Birdman, Trey Songz and Jamie Foxx. Drake has the right songs written for Jazz Cartier, Bishop Brigante, Alicia Keys and Dr.. Dre.

On 29 June 2009 it was announced that Graham was signed by Young Money Entertainment, the company of Lil 'Wayne [16]. Two songs from Graham, Best I Ever Had and Every Girl, which is sung with Young Money, debuted on July 4, 2009 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the third and tenth place. Graham This is the second artist in the world to achieve this.

Nelly Furtado in 2001 also had two songs in 1 week in the top 10 were, "I'm Like A Bird" and "Get Ur Freak On." Graham toured after this success including Lil 'Wayne with America's Most Wanted Tour.

On 15 September 2009, the So Far Gone EP re-released, but now with 7 songs, including 5 of the original ep. The album debuted in sixth place in the Billboard 200 and received the certification "Gold" from the RIAA with sales quantity of more than 500,000 copies in the United States. On April 18, 2010 Graham won with his EP 'Rap Recording of the Year (loosely translated: best rap album of the year) "on the Juno Awards of 2010 [17].

Graham was planning his first album, Thank Me Later, due for release in autumn 2009. This worked for some unknown reasons. The first release date was moved to March 2010 [18] and then to May 25, 2010 [19]. On April 5, 2010 Universal Motown was known that the release date was moved again. 

The final date of release was made on 15 June 2010 [18] [20]. Universal confirmed that Graham worked on the album with Kanye West, Jay-Z [21] and Lil 'Wayne. On 9 March 2010, the first single from the album, "About" [22]. The song won the fourteenth place in the Billboard Hit 100

On 29 April 2010 it was announced that Graham had finished his album. Following this, he released his second single, "Find Your Love" [23], which holds the eighth place in the Hot 100. The third single, released on June 1, 2010, "Miss Me" with Lil 'Wayne, won the fifteenth place [24]. 

Eventually Thank Me Later released on the promised date, 15 June 2010. On that day, Graham organized a free concert in New York. There were 25,000 people attended this concert. Thanks to this huge number of people and the many fights that arose at the start of the concert, however, it was canceled by the police. Drake was furious, but could do nothing [25].


Despite this fiasco, there were 447,000 albums sold in the first week, making it first debuted on the Billboard 200 [26]. Because of this, the album title as the "most albums sold in 1 week. This title was a week later, however, decreased by Eminem, with his album Recovery.

Graham is currently touring the United States with his "Dreams and Nightmares Lights Tour". He kicked off on September 20, 2010 in Miami, Florida [27]. The tour ends on November 6, 2010 in Las Vegas. [28].

In the Netherlands and Flanders Graham gradually begins to gain fame. "Thank Me Later" debuted on the 71 place in the Top 100 albums and 98 in the Ultratop 50. In 2009, Graham, with Best I Ever Had, in fifth place in the tipparade. Find Your Love in 2010 was in third place in the Netherlands and Flanders in the sixteenth of tipparade.

In 2001 Graham began his acting career as Jimmy Brooks, a character in Degrassi: The Next Generation. In this television Brooks is a basketball player who ended up in a wheelchair with cripple legs after a classmate he has shot in his spine. His role in the show ended in 2009 after his character graduated from Degrassi. He has played in 139 episodes, including in the movie Degrassi Spring Break Movie, in 2008.
