Gotye


Wouter De Backer (Bruges, May 21, 1980), better known as Gotye (and as a producer Wally De Backer), a Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter, drummer, guitarist and keyboardist from Melbourne.

 
De Backer was born in Bruges, Belgium, but moved to Australia two years old and there already practiced music in his teens, in the local rock band Downstares. When the band was set, De Backer began concentrating on his solo project, later named "Gotye" would get. In addition to English speaks De Backer also Dutch.

 
He is also a third of the indie-pop band The Basics of Melbourne.

His first single "Learnalilgivinanlovin" from the album "Like Drawing Blood" was released in August 2006. In the Netherlands, the board in June 2008 and stayed in August stabbing on the 2nd position in the Tipparade.

 
On August 5, 2011, his single with Kimbra, Somebody That I Used To Know the 3FM megahit. In addition, the number is already 24 weeks in the iTunes Top 30, including 12 weeks at number 1. On September 17, 2011, the single number 1 to stand in the Single Top 100. 

A week later he was also the first of the 3FM Mega Top 50. In the Ultratop 50 was the number 12 weeks at number 1. In the Single Top 100, it is now more than 35 weeks recorded. In the United States harvest the song a lot of success in the American Billboard Hot 100 chart is Somebody That I Used To Know even currently at number 1.

 
Wouter, Gotye's first name, translates into French as 'Gautier' or 'Gaultier'. This name will be transferred back into the English 'Gotye'.

 
In 2011 Gotye won three awards at the Australian ARIA Awards. He was voted best male artist of the year and Somebody That I used to know was the single best and poprelease of the year. [1] The song "Somebody That I Used to Know" won the Music Industry Awards 2011 in Flanders on 10 December both the price hit of the year for movie of the year.

On April 3, 2012, the Dutch Top 40 Gotye known that the 47-year old record of Trio Hellenique has broken. Their "La Danse de Zorba since its listing in 1965-1966 was the hit with the highest number of points, but that hegemony was" Somebody That I used to know 'to an end.
