Tramar Dillard, better known as Flo Rida (Opa-locka (Florida), December 16, 1979) is an American rapper.
Flo Rida raps since he was eight. He was raised with seven sisters in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods of Miami, Carol City. Although his mother gave him a stable home situation he found it is hard to escape the situation "on the street".
His stage name is derived from the name of the state he was born (Florida). He is also known thanks to his number-1 hit Low, from the soundtrack of the movie Step Up 2: The Streets. In many countries including the United States came to this number on the first visit. In the Netherlands the number does not appear in the charts.
Flo Rida released in 2008 from his debut album Mail on Sunday. On this album he worked with include Sean Kingston, Lil 'Wayne and Timbaland. Also, Elevator, the second single from Mail on Sunday is not successful in the Netherlands.
In 2009, the second album called R.O.O.T.S. This is the first single released the song Right Round. This song won first place as the United States and the United Kingdom and stranded in the Netherlands at number three. R.O.O.T.S. is an acronym for Route Of Overcoming The Struggle, referring to his trip to Africa in 2008, Burundi
Flo Rida has had many hits. The hits from his first album, Mail on Sunday, no success in the Netherlands, while his single Low in many countries has been at number 1. His second album, R.O.O.T.S. contained many hits like Right Round (With Kesha), it stood at 1 in eg the United States and Canada. It reached the top 3 in the Netherlands and chartte also high in many other countries.
The 2nd single from this album, Sugar, was less successful than Right Round, reached the spot 14 in the Dutch top 40.
In 2010 he released his third album: Only One Flo. This includes the big hit Club Can not Handle Me (David Guetta). This was so far his biggest hit in the Netherlands to stand at No. 2. The second single from this album, Turn Around, reached up to now no further than the tipparade.
In 2010 Flo Rida had a hit with 'Higher' in collaboration with The Saturdays, a British girl group. In 2011 he had several hits with Where namely Damn Girls At a collaboration with David Guetta and Nicki Minaj, Feeling Good and Hangover. The latter was a collaboration with Taio Cruz
